"We will never save civilisation as long as civilisation is our main object. We must learn to want something else even more."
—C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
I'm convinced that fundamentalists will demonstrate their relevance through statements like this rather than through continued protestations that their demise has been exaggerated. May Kevin Bauder's tribe increase.
What kind of relevance do you think needs to be sought and why? I didn't even realize the search for relevance was part of the discussions of recent months. I thought it was about whether an idea was biblical or not.
"Relevance" (in this context)=capacity and tendency to engage debate about theological issues with biblical argumentation rather than merely fundamentalist movement issues. I'm asking for less navel-gazing and self-consciousness.
Some of the discussions of recent months have been over theological issues with biblical argumentation. That's not what I'm referring to.
"Relevance" is a loaded buzzword. I should have anticipated this, and I accept the blame for the imprecision.
