They start comparing the preaching, music, and overall experience of their favorite conference to their local church Sunday experience. This makes it impossible for the average pastor and church to ever measure up. It’s a bit like the guy who is so enamored with the Victoria’s Secret catalogue that his wife starts to look less and less attractive, as if it were a problem with her appearance instead of his obsession.

Driscoll vs. the "Conference Christians"

Good stuff right there. The Victoria's Secret catalog reminds me of Stetzer's comment about conferences being like ministry porn ... you go looking at what everyone else has and are no longer satisfied with what God gave you.

Stetzer's comment was actually directed as pastors being dissatisfied with their churches rather than members being dissatisfied with their pastors (which is what Resurgence and DJP seem to be talking about). It just reminded me of it ... I had forgotten about Philips.
No doubt Driscoll is a devoted Pyros fanboy.
Oh the irony.
