PETA Cannot Be Pleased
I believe I saw more dead animals on the Mall this weekend than on all the berms of lonely Midwestern county roads in all my life. It's not that I have a problem with wearing furs. I just found it a bit . . . ironic, given the special interests gaining influence in Washington.
Yeah, the fact that these were not all women was quite disturbing. While walking to the Capitol my mom and i noticed a man in a long fur coat and his wife standing next to him in a leather jacket. We both looked at each other and said "something is very wrong here."
And Ben, you're right, PETA is not pleased. (The Democratic base has always been a fragile coalition.) But i sincerely doubt the PETA folks had the audacity to throw fake blood on a black woman wearing a fur coat--especially on this past Tuesday. That could have gotten very ugly...
Not to call into question the evidence of your own eyes but are you sure they are not fake furs? I mean really how can you tell?
ReplyDeleteHard to say. I identified some obvious fakes and didn't take photos. But I wouldn't claim inerrancy.

ReplyDeleteEd,
ReplyDeleteWhich and how do you know?
