Who Said It?
This quote appeared in an American newspaper today:
"I'm a Bible man," he said. "And it says that, 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble,' so I keep that verse in my mind at all times."
No googling, and if you read the article, maybe let everyone just wonder for a bit.
I'm sure you're not surprised to hear that I knew this immediately. I actually think you used this quote last year. I'm also surprised Joel didn't get it since this person has had such an impact on Joel's life (at least his mid-to-late-Novembers).
Looks like Mary is going to walk away with the prize for the closest guess. (Is this a Mary whom I know?)
Read these words from the mouth of James Laurinitis, Ohio State linebacker, defending Nagurski Award winner for the best college defensive player, and son of Joe Laurinitis of professional wrestling fame as Joe "The Animal" Laurinitis.
Don't know if it is cheating to take two guesses but anyway...John McCain or Fred Thompson?
ReplyDeleteIt's probably cheating, but since they're both wrong I'm not gonna get too worked up about it.
ReplyDeleteObama.
ReplyDeleteHilary (is she calling herself a man yet?)
ReplyDeleteNo and no. Wrong field, guys.
ReplyDeleteIt has to be a football coach. Maybe someone with a 3-0.
ReplyDeleteOoooohhh, now we're in the ballpark.
ReplyDeleteJoe Gibbs
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, the saintly Joe Gibbs is only 2-0 (now).
ReplyDeleteTony Dungy (either that, or Bill Belichick after he spied on Dungy and stole his lines...)
ReplyDeleteRight sport, wrong level, wrong role (not a coach). But this individual is part of a team in the same state as one of the commenters.
ReplyDeleteAn Ohio State football player???

ReplyDeleteThis is a wild guess, but is it Michael Vick? Sounds like something he would say to try to convince us that he really is a Christian!

P.S. Thanks to all for playing my game.
